Pre-approval via a Travel Approval Request is required for the University of Maryland (UMD) employee and visitor travel outside of Maryland or the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. Pre-approval is required for all travel that includes an overnight stay even when the destination is in Maryland or the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area.

Travelers may contact a University of Maryland travel agency to book travel or make their own reservations.
Travelers may use the Travel Card to pay for properly approved travel expenses and/or may be reimbursed after trip completion via a Travel Expense Statement.
