The Department of Procurement and Strategic Sourcing and the Department of Business
Services have decided to combine into a single organization, now called the Department of
Procurement and Business Services. This new organizational structure will enable us to
provide better service and enhanced coordination to our campus customers.
Key services provided by Procurement and Business Services include:
- Construction and Facilities Procurement
- Strategic Sourcing (non-construction Procurement, Copy Services, Printing Services, Shell Shop)
- Travel and Card Services (Purchasing Card Administration, Travel Services, Travel Card Administration)
- Logistical Services (Mail Services/US Mail, Distribution, Terrapin Trader)
- Administrative Services (Copyright Clearance, Records Retention, Vending)
We have realigned services and reevaluated our processes with the goal of implementing best
practices-based service for our customers and university suppliers. We welcome your feedback
to help us improve our services and our website. This month we are finalizing changes to our
website purchase.umd.edu, incorporating content and functions from the Business Services
(dbs.umd.edu) website, and updating and streamlining the content throughout. We plan to
retire dbs.umd.edu in February.
We are excited about these changes, and look forward to serving the campus as Procurement
and Business Services!
