Travel – both domestic and international – involves inherent opportunities and risks, and the University takes seriously its duty of care obligations to support the health, safety, and security of its faculty, staff and students while they are working or traveling on behalf of the University.
- UMD is currently in the process of investing in a tool to improve our travel risk management capacity, help travelers make informed decisions about their health and safety before, during and after travel, and provide assistance to travelers while they are in travel status
- The Duty of Care tool will help the university to know where travelers are located, and when they are impacted by security events so that assistance can be provided if and when needed
- The tool will include pre-trip, itinerary-specific health, safety and security trip briefs, and two-way communication with assistance providers
